Dissection kit

When I started studying biomedicine, we were asked to buy a dissection kit for the first year of the degree. I never ended up using it! It spent years forgotten in a drawer in my bedside table, until I took it out today. Not for dissection, but for drawing. My path as a biomedical scientist took an unexpected turn and I ended up becoming a scientific illustrator, at least for now. And here is the graphic representation of that decision: the kit I never used for my biomedical training is now part of my bodegon. Although I never got to use the kit, the illustrations I create today maintain the precision required for a dissection: from the sketch to the finished illustration, every line, every detail, every shadow has a purpose. Everything I learned in college is still valuable, and in some ways, it has influenced my current approach, but as with this kit, I have found a new way to put that knowledge to use. Now I look at the world through the eyes of a scientific illustrator, with the same meticulousness required for a dissection, and I hope to continue exploring this path for a long time to come.

The idea

To draw the essential dissection kit tools used in the biomedical science field.

The result

An illustration that presents each element meticulously arranged, as if ready for use. The work was conceived in pencil and finished digitally, combining traditional and modern techniques. It reflects everything I have learned, both in the field of biomedicine and in the art of illustration.
