Hi, I’m Maddi Astigarraga,
a scientific illustrator specialized in turning complex concepts into powerful visuals. Through my work, I bring scientific and technical ideas to life, creating illustrations that inform, inspire, and connect with audiences.
My curiosity about the human body and how it works led me to study biomedicine.
was through a pencil and whatever paper I could find at home. Perhaps that is why I feel a special attraction to traditional techniques. My desire to experiment led me to try digital techniques, and I fell in love with them.
Currently, I love working with mixed media, combining traditional techniques such as graphite or watercolor with digital techniques.
I feel a great responsibility to spread knowledge.
I believe that one of the great challenges of scientific communication is to convey real and verified information to society in an understandable way. Illustration is a useful ally in
A few brushstrokes about me
My passion for drawing led me to specialize in scientific illustration.
I have found scientific illustration to be a way to continue learning about science and communicating it through creativity.
I spend a lot of time and care on each project to get the expected results. Accuracy and creativity are the foundation of my work..
Through my work, I aim to make the invisible visible and the complex comprehensible, always attempting to awaken curiosity about the scientific world in those who view my illustrations.
My commitment to education and scientific outreach is a fundamental part of my career. That’s why I offer workshops and talks to inspire others to explore the world of scientific illustration and deepen their appreciation for nature.
I really enjoy teaching and giving talks, sharing my curiosity and passion with others, especially young people.
